Karma launches second charity penguin walk
Award-winning international travel and lifestyle brand Karma Group, led by its chairman and founder John Spence, has organised a second fundraising walk in aid of children’s charity Christel House.
The Penguin Walk II, takes place on 4 October and will see Spence and a number of staff, guests and friends – the more the merrier – walking 32 kilometres in the south of France.
Spence said: “This is the second annual walk of the people of Le Preverger – the penguins! Last year we walked in search of a long and savage lunch and after setting out at 6am from Karma Le Preverger, near La Garde-Freinet in the South of France, we walked 38km and arrived at Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach, five minutes ahead of our 3pm lunch reservation!
“Our efforts were rewarded with sore flippers, full bellies, but most importantly, enough sponsorship money to put four Christel House students through full university degree programmes – something that will change their lives, and those of their families, forever.”
This year’s walk will again set off from Karma Le Preverger in Provence, but this time heading for lunch in the village of La Môle, approximately 32km away.
“This time the penguins will be doing it in fancy dress as kangaroos,” said Spence, who claimed that “no illegal substances were consumed when planning this event!”
He added: “Please help us support our charity and chip in so we can beat last year’s achievement and help more children and their families break the cycle of poverty. Better still come and join us – penguins and kangaroos of all ages are welcome!”
