Meliá opens Meliá Cartagena Karmairí in Caribbean
Leading Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International has announced the opening of the all-inclusive, adults-only Meliá Cartagena Karmairí.
Located in Manzanillo Del Mar – just 15 minutes from Cartagena De Indias and the second most travelled to destination in the Caribbean – the new property offers guests the opportunity to explore the historic and colonial charm of the city while also boasting a magical beach retreat. It is also a destination of wellbeing and rest for guests seeking harmony between mind and body.
Victor Domnez, operations senior director for the hotel group’s Americas Region, said: “We are excited to welcome guests to the new adults-only, all-inclusive Meliá Cartagena Karmairí.
“Designed as a retreat for wellness and relaxation, we wanted to accommodate today’s modern traveller, whether they’re looking to explore the urban landscape or the natural surroundings of the Caribbean coastline.”
The adults-only all-inclusive hotel features 147 guest rooms with nine dedicated to Meliá Hotels & Resorts’ VIP service, THE LEVEL, which will officially debut their rooms in the coming weeks.
In terms of food and beverage, the hotel offers three dining concepts, including Merkado Restaurant and THE LEVEL’s exclusive Fish House Restaurant, as well as Terraza Elixyr, which serves food and beverages daily from 10am-1am. There is also a poolside bar. The hotel’s exclusive Breeza Beach Club, due to open soon, will offer beach drinks service and tapas menu.
Other facilities include event spaces, a gym, and a spa with an unprecedented number of treatment rooms, sensory showers, a sauna, a Turkish bath, ice fountains and thermal beds.
Incorporating the natural surroundings was a key element when designing the new property. Its Merkado restaurant is surrounded by water, a life-giving, integrated natural element aimed to create a fresh, cool sensation of wellbeing for diners, and the property also features pedestrian paths and viewing areas to allow its natural surroundings to take centre stage.
The property is also committed to preserving its surrounding natural environment through clean energy, recovery of grey water, low consumption and LED lights, control of air conditioning in guest rooms and solar panels to generate hot water.
