New golf director for Macdonald Spey Valley
Macdonald Resorts has appointed David Torrance as director of golf at Macdonald Spey Valley Championship Golf Course.
The course is located at the RCI-affiliated Macdonald Spey Valley Resort at Aviemore in Scotland.
Torrance, a Fellow Member of the PGA, has been based at Spey Valley since October 2018, running his own golf academy.
In 2015 he was presented with the Scottish Golf Coach of the Year award and has helped to develop some of Scotland’s most exciting prospects including Sandy Scott and Hannah McCook. Torrance was also coach to Russell Knox in his Junior Years at Nairn Dunbar Golf Club.
In his new role, his time will be mainly spent on the continued smooth running of The Club and promoting, as Torrance describes, one of Scotland’s best and most stunning golf facilities.
“It is an honour and pleasure to be appointed as director of Golf at one of my very favourite golf courses,” said Torrance.
“The facilities at Spey Valley are second to none with the Dave Thomas-designed Championship Course and 9 hole Academy Course and world class Practice Area.
“With the stunning backdrop of the Cairngorms I really can’t think of a more desirable place for anyone, of any playing standard, to enjoy golf more”.
