RDO launches new online strategy to raise industry profile
European timeshare trade body the Resort Development Organisation (RDO) has a launched a new online strategy and blog following a kick-off meeting held in London earlier this year.
The meeting brought together a focus group of representatives from the industry, including delegates from Anfi, Club La Costa, Absolute World, Hapimag, Confused About Timeshare, Howard Kennedy, Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket, TATOC and RCI, and saw RDO initiate the launch of a new RDO Digital Community.
The meeting was led by Jackie Murphy of Flagship Consulting and John Beckley, who has worked with his brother James for six years to give Pearly Grey Ocean Club in Tenerife a strong online presence and personality, and is now managing the social media strategy for the Sands Beach Hotel in Lanzarote.
John Beckley has been appointed RDO 2016 Digital Media Consultant and has been tasked to work with Nikkie Yeaman (RDO Secretariat) to bring the industry together in a concerted effort to boost the online presence of individual resorts, products and services and, in doing so, the industry as a whole.
During the coming months, the platform will be introduced to RDO members and their staff, all of whom will be encouraged to participate in positive online chatter about the timeshare holiday product. RDO will host training and discussion groups to support its participating members, working together to foster a better understanding of how to use social media to influence the perception of timeshare, build consumer trust and improve the industry’s reputation.
With tens of thousands of happy timeshare owners, the RDO aims to actively encourage them to get online, posting ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’ around all they love about their timeshare holiday lifestyle. The initiative also aims to build up a social media database of RDO members, to ensure they are all following each other and communicating with the right people within member company/resorts.
Three new hashtags have also been launched – #TimeshareTuesday, #RDOdigital and #GoTimeshare – which members have been asked to use on social media channels as part of RDOs digital media initiative to promote the timeshare industry.
