Get Ready for National Plan for Vacation Day
It’s on January 30, 2018—spread the word.
Resorts know: Everyone has time off, but not everyone uses it. In fact, American workers left 662 million vacation days on the table in 2016, according to the State of American Vacation 2017, by Project: Time Off (PTO), an organization dedicated to helping Americans use up all their vacation days. That’s 662 million days that could have been spent relaxing and recharging at resorts around the world.
So what’s the solution? “Planning is the single biggest step people can take, and the more they plan ahead, the more they can actually enjoy the time off,” says Katie Denis, chief of research and strategy at Project: Time Off.
Enter National Plan for Vacation Day on January 30, an effort by PTO to encourage workers to map out their vacations for the year. (RCI is a coalition partner.) Resorts can participate by emailing owners and encouraging them to plan their vacations for the rest of the year so that none of their days go unused. Consider sharing PTO’s Vacation Planning Tool, which helps users visualize the number of days they have off and how to best spread those days throughout the year; it also lets them export the result to a personal calendar.
